A more detailed guide should is pending, but I just wanted to cover some of the basics of using this forum...

There are three main views for this forum: Guest, Member, Builder.

Guests are not logged in.

Members are logged in with the basic access afforded all who register themselves.

Builders see everything, including internal communications reflecting Alumni efforts.

To become a member, just register once and log in.
If you would like to be a builder, please simply contact any forum Administrator (it will say so underneath our names on the left, there).

(Actually, with the current setup of the forums, we do not have private topics for builders only.  But we anticipate this may change in the near future, so that membership level is ready in wait.)

If you are not logged in, you'll have access to view some forums, but you will not be able to reply to anything, and will not have access to more involved Antioch topics.

You do not have to be past or present Antioch students/faculty/affiliates to become a member on this forum.  You just have to register, which is a simple matter of choosing a username, password, and providing an email address.

Your email address will NOT be shared publicly (unless you change your privacy options to display it).  Default privacy options will hide your e-mail address but allow form e-mail, which means that people who want to commuinicate with you directly in response to one of your forum posts will be able to leave a message that will go only to you via email, but they will not see your email address unless you choose to reply back to them.

Subscribing to topics is possible, and encouraged, via the "Subscribe to this topic" link at the bottom each topic.  This will send you an email when someone posts a reply to the topic.  If there are 20 replies to the topic while you are away from the forum, you will receive only one email (until you've logged into the forum again).  Of course, you can just as easily unsubscribe from topics.

HTML markup is not permitted in posts, but there is simple BBCode formatting available.  Click here for information on BBCode.

You can link to specific posts from the forum by grabbing the URL from the date/time stamped on the top-left of every post.

Please contact any forum Administrator or Moderator (will say so under our names when we post in the forum) with individual issues, such as moving your topic to a different forum that better suits your subject.  Also feel free to ask any and all questions -- we'll be happy to hold your hand and walk you through every step if you let us.

Oh, a quick explanation (more or less) on terminology/forum hierarchy:
This whole site (http://antiochians.org/forum) is a forum, broken down into categories like "Broadcasts" and "Discussion", which are in turn made up of more forums like "Chapter Announcements" and "Site Building", which then have topics within them that are made up of individual posts.

If you have questions pertaining to the forum, please post them in the This Forum forum.

Other questions are very welcome in the other relevant forums.

There have been some really excellent discussions already via the listservs.  We're hoping to see some of those subjects copied here so that more of us can read them and get involved in the discussions.

So please come in, have some tea.  Cookies are baking, you're among friends, and we have lots to talk about.

You don't have to be a Forum Administrator or Moderator to help maintain our community forum.  There's a Report link at the bottom of every post.

If you see duplicate posts or other concerns/issues, please Report that post with the Reason, and a forum administrator will either reply or address the post appropriately.

Thanks!

P.S. Forum issues and questions thread is available here: http://antiochians.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=20787

If you have something to post to the antiochians.org website, please send your content to webcontent[at]antiochians[dot]org.

Also, at this time, we're working on building an Acceptable Use Policy at our wiki.
Everyone is invited to help draft this document, so that we can build a comfortable, respectful environment for all members.
